Must See

check out my friend Kristie's blog to see the awesome pictures she took of Austen and Peter:

He's got the little bitty babies in his hands...

Austen: "Does God ever get to hold babies?"
Me: "Well, yes, he has the whole world in his hands..."
Austen: "Doesn't he get tired?"
Me: "No, God never gets tired."
Austen: "Never?"
Me: "Never. He never gets tired. He is so strong, we can't even understand."
Austen: "Will he get tired on Tuesday?"
Me: "No. Never."
Austen: "Never?"
Me: "Never."
Austen: "..." and then laughter.

Also he tells me this today:
"The moon makes the snow, they are both made of the same thing, because they are the same color."

Henry... or Hank

Henry: "I'm a real cowboy. You can call me Cowboy Hank. That's a nice name. And, I'm not a monster"

Peter can laugh

He just doesn't do it on command.

Parenting Top 10 (a work in progress)

Today Aaron did something cute. Really cute. Tyson asked me if it was top 5. I answered that it was definitely in Aaron's top 3, and in the Top 10 Best Parenting Moments so far. I am going to begin compiling my list of top parenting moments, as I remember them. So here, for your enjoyment, is what Aaron did today.

#10 (subject to adjustment)
Henry is a cowboy, he has boots, really cool red boots. Aaron is jealous of these boots so he stole them for probably the 10th time and ran away with them. Henry cried so I went to retrieve them for him. When I did, Aaron cried-no big surprise, he wants cool boots too. So I found in the closet some boots. Henry's old rain boots. Henry's old froggy-eyed rain boots. Aaron was so excited when he saw them that he started laughing before I even got one on. Then the laughing turned to growling, then to wheezing. He was so excited to get the boots on, he was laughing/growling so hard and he wasn't getting enough oxygen! After boot #2 was on he calmed down enough to breathe. Then he ran (or tried, the boots are too big) around the house kicking his feet up as high as they would go to show off his cool boots.

you may have noticed....

Today I copied and pasted a lot of old blogs from myspace. Evidently I had been blogging a whole entire year before I got this blogspot account. I put them on this blog because I plan on deleting my myspace account. Just wanted to let all my readers (yes, I know there are only 2 of you) know what's up with all the post-dated entries. Enjoy!

Pirate Names

I just read a book called Everything I Know About Pirates to the boys. It is a very silly book. In fact, the rest of the title is "A collection of made up facts, educated guesses, and silly pictures about bad guys of the high seas." At the end of the book there is a "Pirate Name Chart." The chart has 3 columns of names and if you pick one name from each column, viola!- you have a pirate name! For instance, my pirate name is 'Peg Calico Ned.' Austen's is 'Hook Leg Bob.' Peter has a pirate name too, we think it is quite fitting for him- 'Blind Lips Kidd'- and Austen picked it out by randomly pointing to a name in each column! Henry insists he doesn't need a pirate name because he is a cowboy and when he has his cowboy regalia on he will not respond to his name, only to 'Hank,' because that is a cowboy name. Aaron and Tyson don't have pirate names yet. But they will.
Here is the chart, so you can pick your pirate name too.

Long.......... John.......... Kidd
Black......... Eye............ Bart
Evil............ Beard........ Bonny
Hook.......... Leg........... Jack
Captain...... Calico....... Bob
Peg............. Skull......... Ned
Big.............. Bandit...... Sam
Stub........... Boot.......... Bruce
Blind.......... Tooth........ Willy
One............ Patch........ Tom*
Blue........... Lips........... Henry
Limp.......... Wreck....... Joe

*not actually a good pirate name, the author put it in because it's his name

Homemade Crayons... look beautiful, not so easy to color with

It takes a long time to peel the labels off of a bucket of crayons then chop them up into tiny little pieces, separate the colors, and melt them in muffin tins. You would think after all this effort, the kid would want to color with his new creations. As soon as we plopped them out of the molds, he tried one big, round, multicolored crayon, announced it's awkwardness in size and promptly retrieved his big box of 96 Crayolas. Whatever. We were tying strings, right?

Austen thought this one looked camouflage.

Our attempt at "stick crayons, like the ones in the boxes"
